February has been quite the eventful month. I have grouped the events in three sections (or keys).
The first one took place from February 1st to February 3rd in Scottsdale Arizona at the Scottsdale Artists' School. While I was over there on my merit scholarship, I was able to escape the cold weather, meet extremely talented artists, and continuing to improve my craft at a higher lever of training. Under the instruction of Daniel Keys (the first key) I was able to work on Alla Prima painting with an emphasis on color. In addition to working on technicality and observation from life, there was also much discussion on the psychology and practicality of being an artist. It was overall an extremely inspirational and beneficial workshop and I was able to further evaluate my weak points in order to make them stronger.

My second key was when I found out that my Scholastic Art and Writing Awards portfolio won a gold key. Receiving a gold key for my portfolio is the highest regional award. My portfolio is currently in the process of be judged at the national level with hopes of winning a gold medal and going to the reception at Carnegie Hall. I will not find out about my national placement until mid March.
